Due to it's pair of sandstone turrents (giving it it's castle-like appearance) and it's spectaculr view of the shallow green waters (colored by copper deposits in the rocks), Miners Castle is arguably the most visited and best known feature of the park.
Sadly, on April 13, 2006, the right pillar finally gave way to years of erosion and collapsed into Lake Superior, leaving a view not quite as spectacular as what once existed. |
